How I Pitched a $100K Blockchain Project Without a Cookie-Cutter Proposal

Most designers send a generic proposal when applying for projects. A few sentences about skills, maybe a portfolio link, and that’s it. The problem? Clients can spot a template from a mile away.

When I pitched for Stratos—a blockchain company building next-gen decentralized infrastructure—I decided to do it differently. Instead of sending text, I recorded a video walkthrough showing them three distinct design directions for their brand and website.

The Three Directions

1. Trust & Authority (Coinbase-inspired)
Clean, minimal, professional. A design language that communicates security, stability, and credibility. Perfect for winning investor trust.

2. Futuristic & Bold (Phantom-inspired)
Dark mode, neon accents, sleek typography. A visual identity that feels cutting-edge, tech-first, and disruptive.

3. Human-Centered & Accessible (Zerion blend)
Minimal but with warmth—soft typography, human touches, and storytelling-driven layouts. This direction emphasizes approachability and global adoption.

Why This Works

Instead of telling the client “I can design your brand”, I showed them “Here’s how your brand could look in three very different futures.”

This approach does a few things:

  • Proves you understand their industry (blockchain references they know and respect).

  • Builds trust by giving them options and control.

  • Positions you as a strategic partner, not just a designer.

The Takeaway

If you’re a designer, freelancer, or creative pitching clients:

  • Don’t send the same proposal everyone else does.

  • Tailor your pitch to their brand, market, and goals.

  • Better yet, show them a few directions through a quick video walkthrough.

It’s more work up front—but it’s the reason clients take you seriously.
